Jimmy Kimmel blasts secret GOP health care bill with Harry Potter spoof
Jimmy Kimmel is no stranger to speaking truth to power about health care in the United States and the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host continued his assault on GOP lawmakers Wednesday by comparing their new bill, written in secret, to Harry Potter.
“A small group of Republican senators are working on a health care plan right now that no one else has seen,” Kimmel explained. “And they want to force a vote on it before July 4. That way, I guess, people who blow their fingers off with firecrackers can’t claim that as a preexisting condition.”
The host then blasted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for his orchestration of the secret bill and noted how no women were involved in its creation. “McConnell said he would have women but they can’t keep a secret so they’re not allowed in the room,” Kimmel joked, before saying “it’s hard to believe this is actually happening and not a plot from a movie.” And with that, Kimmel premiered the fake trailer to Mitch McConnell and the Chamber of Secrets, a spoof on the second Potter film and book.
“It’s the bill that must not be named,” Kimmel added.
