Jennifer Lopez's Separation Date From Ben Affleck Is Shedding New Light on This 'Rude' Moment

It may be months since the internet was ablaze after Jennifer Lopez appeared to have a rude interaction with an interviewer on the Met Gala red carpet but we’re finally seeing the moment in a new light now that the details about her split with Ben Affleck have been revealed.

Lopez, 55, filed for divorce on Tuesday evening after months of speculation about the couple’s marital issues. In the filing, she reportedly listed their date of separation as April 26, 2024. That week, the singer was in New York City, promoting her poorly-received album, This Is Me… Now, and preparing to co-chair the 2024 Met Gala.
There, Lopez unfortunately found herself going viral for all the wrong reasons when a video of her rather curtly responding to a reporter caused some social media users to label her “rude” and “dismissive.”
“Who are you wearing tonight?” Lopez was asked by a USA Today reporter before the “Jenny From The Block” singer abruptly responded: “Schiaparelli” while looking away from the reporter. The brief moment exacerbated long-held opinions about Lopez’s treatment of staff — the “Hustlers” star has been called out for being rude to servers and accused of being difficult to work with many times over the years.
However, knowing what we know now, it’s clear that this was a difficult time for the singer who just split from Affleck, 52, days earlier and all while promoting the lowest-charting album of her career. To make matters worse, weeks after the Met Gala, Lopez went on to cancel her This Is Me… Live tour amid reports about poor ticket sales.
All of this is to say that, while we don’t approve rude attitudes and dismissive comments, perhaps Lopez had a lot on her mind while walking up the Met Gala steps!
