Jennifer Lopez Says She’s Embracing This New Era With Latest Album Inspired by Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez has fully embraced this new chapter of the her life. The actress and singer’s latest album, This Is Me…Now, just debuted along with a companion film This Is Me…Now: A Love Story on Amazon Prime Video. The album and film are both heavily inspired by Lopez’s rekindled romance with her husband Ben Affleck, and she recently opened up about how she’s relishing in this new era.
“I would describe this as my most honest, free, empowering, [and] loving era,” Lopez recently shared in an interview with Rolling Stone. Lopez got very candid about the creative process that went into her new album, saying, “When I started making This Is Me… Now, what I told everybody in the studio was, ‘Hey, this amazing thing has happened to me and I want to let people who have been through this with me know. I figured this thing out and I want to share it,'” she said. That “amazing thing” Lopez referenced? Her romance with Affleck.

The couple’s history goes back more than two decades. Lopez and Affleck initially met in the early 2000s while working together on the romantic comedy Gigli. From then on, the couple became the subject of tabloid fodder and fascination, which took a toll on their relationship. The two ultimately split before their wedding in 2003. But during the COVID-19 pandemic, they reconnected and rekindled their romance.
Nearly 20 years after they first got together, Lopez and Affleck exchanged their vows in an impromptu Las Vegas wedding ceremony in July 2022, followed by a celebration with family and friends. Lopez’s new album really marks a major return to music for the singer. But more importantly, it highlights a particular chapter of her life she wants to reflect on and celebrate. We can’t wait to see what this era has in store for her.
