Jennifer Lopez revealed as the face of Versace's new campaign: 'I am so excited'
Jennifer Lopez’s long-time relationship with Versace is coming full circle: The 50-year-old is representing the famous Italian fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection, she announced on Instagram Saturday.
“I am so excited I can finally reveal that I am the face of the #VersaceSS20 campaign!” Lopez wrote on Instagram, sharing shots from the campaign. “Thank you to @Donatella_Versace and everyone at @Versace for your vision and collaboration.”
One photo features Lopez, who is engaged to baseball star Alex Rodriguez, sporting a green palm leaf suit with no shirt underneath, reminiscent of her iconic Versace dress which she wore to the 42nd Grammy Awards in 2000 with then-beau Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Additional campaign photos included one of Lopez in an extra-short, low-cut red dress with shirring at the bottom, and others in low-cut black power suit and a two-piece dress held together with a gold detail.
Versace also cemented the news by posting images of Lopez on its Instagram account. “To me, Versace represents empowerment. It’s a dream to collaborate with my friend @donatella_versace again on this gorgeous campaign and to create something new and fresh out of a piece of iconic fashion history,” Lopez is quoted in the post.
The brand is also releasing a $1,495 watch designed in the pattern of the dress, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The watch will be sold in stores in May and comes with an alternative black leather band.
Lopez made headlines again in September when she walked the runway at the Spring 2020 Versace show during Milan Fashion Week wearing an updated version of the dress.
And last month, Lopez wore the newer dress while hosting Saturday Night Live. In a nod to her role as Ramona in her latest film Hustlers, Lopez ducked behind a chorus line of The Radio City Rockettes performing to “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and stripped off her tux to reveal the updated look.
