Jennifer Lopez’s Marriage to Ben Affleck Reportedly Felt Like 'Torture' at the End for This Reason
All throughout the summer, rumors of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck‘s split have been swirling. After all, it didn’t take an expert to see that the former couple, who got married in fall 2022, were spending so much time (and important dates) apart.
And, as it turns out, the distance we were all feeling between them is one of the biggest causes of their split. According to multiple outlets since Lopez’s divorce filing on Aug. 20, Affleck seemingly checked out of his marriage with Lopez in the spring, leaving Lopez alone, frustrated and understandably confused.

“It’s been incredibly difficult for her that Ben chose to pull away from their marriage and move on with his life, leaving her behind,” a source recently told People.
And while Affleck created more distance between them, Lopez continued to hold out hope. “She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to just give up,” the source said. “It’s been almost torture for her to wait around.”
Over the summer, it seems Lopez spent her time hoping Affleck would come around and work on their issues. But as waiting became more and more torturous, the Shotgun Wedding singer reached her breaking point and filed for divorce.
“After filing for divorce, she seems relieved,” the source said of the “On the Floor” singer.
“Her family and friends agree that it was the right decision,” the source added. “She’s surrounded by a lot of love and support.”
“She’ll be fine,” the source said. “She’s strong and always comes out on top.”
If these reports are true, and Affleck simply checked out of their relationship before giving them a real shot, we’re applauding Lopez for staying strong throughout it all. She proved to be loyal and a fighter but ultimately chose to put herself first at the end.
As such, Lopez’s friends and family have given up on defending Affleck. “It’s got everybody, from her mom to her sisters to her managers, saying that he needs to be taught a serious lesson and shown he can’t just trample on people’s feelings and get away with it,” an insider told In Touch Weekly. “At this point, they’re all lining up to give him a piece of their mind, particularly [her mother] Guadeloupe, who has been one of his biggest supporters, up until now.” Looks like Affleck’s losing his biggest supporters left and right.
