Jeffrey Dean Morgan Announced as Host of New Travel Competition Series “Destination X”
The "larger-than-life adventure series" will see contestants "embark on the road trip of a lifetime but have no idea of their location"
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is ready to jump into the deep end as he takes on a brand-new role: TV host.
The Walking Dead star, 58, has been announced as the host of NBC's newest competition series, Destination X.
A "larger-than-life adventure competition series," Destination X merges "fantasy with reality," per its official description, as audiences "follow contestants as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime but have no idea of their location."

"In order to win, they must figure out their mystery locations. Once they're on the blacked-out Destination X bus, the journey transforms into a real-life game board, with challenges designed to offer clever clues as to their location, along with a few misdirects to keep them guessing," the description continues.
The first contestant to reach the elusive Destination X "will be crowned the winner," and eliminations will occur at the end of each episode, as the "contestant who places an X on a map furthest from the actual location packs their bags."
In a press release statement, Morgan said: "Destination X captivated me with its blend of travel, mystery, and gaming. I can’t wait to embark on this wild guessing game across the globe as Master of Ceremony, navigating players through challenges that test their mental and physical abilities."
"Jeffrey Dean Morgan embodies the mischievous international man of mystery, making him the perfect host and puppet master for this new travel adventure series,” NBCUniversal's Executive Vice President of unscripted content, competition and game shows Corie Henson also said in a statement. "He’s dashing, charming, playful and the ultimate travel companion!”

Destination X marks Morgan's first unscripted role, but it won't be the only show of his premiering next year.
At San Diego Comic-Con in June, Morgan and his The Walking Dead: Dead City costars delighted fans as they premiered a new teaser for season 2 of the spin-off series, which is a direct sequel to the original The Walking Dead series.
Morgan reprises his role as Negan alongside Lauren Cohan's Maggie, and the characters "find themselves trapped on opposite sides" of a post-apocalyptic Manhattan in season 2 as the growing war for control of the city reaches new heights, according to an official synopsis.
"As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined."
