Jay-Z Calls Out Grammys for Never Awarding Beyoncé Album of the Year
Jay-Z was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2024 Grammy Awards. During his acceptance speech, the rapper addressed an issue related to his wife Beyoncé’s lack of recognition in the Album of the Year category.
Jay-Z made a statement about his wife Beyoncé’ during his speech .”But, you know, some things — I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year. He said. ‘So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys, never won album of the year. That doesn’t work.”
Jay Z Also Made a Statement For Other Artists: ‘Some of you gonna go home and feel like you’ve been robbed’
Jay-Z’s statement follows Beyoncé’s multiple nominations in the Album of the Year category, with around four nominations until now. Despite her incredible success, including 32 Grammy wins. Beyoncé has yet to secure the secure the Album of the Year title.
The rapper also shed light on broader concerns within the music industry and made a statement for the artists, who were present at the Grammys. The rapper spoke on how the artists feel when they don’t get the awards that they deserve, “Some of you gonna go home and feel like you’ve been robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category,” he said.
Jay-Z concluded his speech by advising artists to not give up in moments of nervousness and encouraged artists to persist until they received the recognition they deserved. His words resonated with many in the audience. The rapper left the award show with his family, shortly after giving the speech.
