Jason Kelce Predicts ‘Most Exciting Year of Football’ in Teasing Message Aimed at Brother Travis
Jason Kelce had an opportunity to poke fun at his younger brother over the weekend following a mix-up during the Kansas City Chiefs’ first preseason home game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
Travis Kelce, a tight end with the Chiefs, caught a behind-the-back pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during their game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday, Aug. 17. While many fans were initially impressed with the catch, Mahomes later revealed that he had executed the maneuver “out of spite” after Travis “didn’t run the route he was supposed to run.”
Travis later roasted his friend’s voice while explaining why he hadn’t run Mahomes’ intended play. “You know, he’s got the voice thing,” Travis said in a separate video clip filmed Saturday at Arrowhead stadium. “He kind of mumbled out the play. I couldn’t hear it.”

Meanwhile, Jason seemed initially impressed by his brother’s catch of Mahomes’ behind-the-back pass. The former Philadelphia Eagles center shared a video showing the moment unfold on X, writing, “Now that it’s been done in the preseason, I got a fever, and I need more cowbell.”
That pass combined with other elements of the game made it among his “most enjoyed preseason games so far,” Jason added later.
