January 2025 TV Preview: 10 New Shows to Watch
New year, new you — unless the current you is accustomed to staying up-to-date on the best new TV around, in which case: never change. January 2025 is a fresh month of fresh shows coming to every network and streamer, and IndieWire will continue to curate those in this monthly guide. Our picks are limited to English-language series, mostly scripted with the occasional dash of documentary and reality. And these are for new TV only — don’t worry, we’re still excited for “Severance.”
Kick off the new year with a binge of Netflix’s new Harlan Coben show “Missing You,” which premieres in full on January 1. The streamer will also drop the gritty Wild West limited series “American Primeval” in the first half of the month, reuniting the team behind “Painkiller.” Fox will debut a military misfit comedy with “Going Dutch,” while Max is entering the medical drama game to the tune of “The Pitt,” starring “E.R.” alum Noah Wyle. On the cusp of medicine and mystery there’s “Watson,” with Morris Chestnut as the eponymous doctor/detective, and “Prime Target” fully in the action/thriller category starring Leo Woodall. Round out the month with Hulu’s enigmatic “Paradise,” or with a call from “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.” Read on to learn more about these January premieres — and keep an eye on IndieWire for all your 2025 TV planning, including our 2025 TV preview and specific roundups for HBO and Netflix.
