Monáe rapped her comments during a Grammy afterparty, a TMZ video showed Monday, where she sang a cover of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre.”

“F—k you Nelly,” Monáe says in the bleeped video. “I used to like Nelly but then he went to perform for Donald Trump,” she continued. “Nelly, you sold out. I used to think he was cool, but now you look like a motherf—ing fool.”
Per TMZ, the impromptu performance was part of a medley of songs Monáe sang with Anderson .Paak, who co-owns the West Hollywood bar where the party took place.
Nelly faced backlash for his performance at Trump’s inaugural ball last month, but defended himself by saying the choice was not about politics. “I’m not out here trying to tell anybody who they should vote for,” he said. “This isn’t politics. The politics, for me, is over. He won! He’s the president.”
Monáe continued with her disparaging remarks of the singer, though many of her words aren’t totally clear on the video. She can be heard saying “F—k you [N word]. Get a new attitude,” as well as, “I care about women, I care about Hispanics.”
Monáe appeared on the Grammy stage earlier Sunday evening to perform Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough” in tribute to Quincy Jones. She threw her jacket into the crowd midway through the number, where it was retrieved by Taylor Swift. The pop star wore the black blazer over her red dress for the rest of the night.
