James Arthur Gets Candid About Fatherhood
Becoming a dad has truly transformed James Arthur's perspective. Since welcoming his daughter Emily with Jessica Grist in November 2022, the "Train Wreck" singer shared in an interview with Best Magazine (per Showbiz) that fatherhood has made him feel remarkably centered and serene.
Reflecting on the joys of fatherhood, he gushed about his little girl, saying, "Emily is incredible. There are no words to describe how I feel about her. She has been so good to me, mentally, I think. She's become my anchor."
The 34-year-old singer admitted that he pursued success with a solitary and self-focused mindset in the past, with a "chip" on his shoulder driven by his past challenges.
However, when his daughter Emily entered his life, everything changed. "The moment Emily was born, an immediate sense of calmness came over me and I thought, I am nowhere near as important as this little baby who I now have to be a father to. I feel very grounded. She is the most beautiful thing you can imagine," he explained.
'Having Emily Has Made Everything Right In The Universe'
Arthur, who gained fame by winning "The X Factor" in 2013, shared a deeper insight, revealing that despite his previous intense pursuit of success, he has now grasped the true essence of life.
He stated, "I feel like I just grew up overnight. People often say I'm emotionally intelligent, but I failed to lock into what the real point of all this was. I had an unhealthy obsession with just wanting to be recognized for my music. Now I've got Emily, my whole motivation has changed."
He added, "Having Emily has made everything right in the universe again, I suppose. I'm really pleased for Jess, she's an incredible mother - she has taken to it like a duck to water, which is lovely to see."

James Arthur's Latest Song 'Blindside' Hit The Waves
Making a triumphant return with fresh music, Arthur recently unveiled his latest track, "Blindside." The music video for this new single was artfully directed by Tim Mattia.
In "Blindside," the singer-songwriter offers a captivating driving chorus and an impressive vocal performance. Reflecting on the song, Arthur said, "Blindside is a song I've wanted to write for years, about falling in love with the right person at the wrong time. It's an energetic song with a sad lyric and it really suited this new rawer style I was after."
Tim Mattia, the creative mind behind the video, adds his insights: "Blindside is such a raw and emotional track, and when James and I spoke about how it came to be written, and the meaning behind the lyrics, I immediately knew we had to capture some epic performances from him, carrying on with the Americana feel of our previous video for 'A Year Ago.'"
He continued, "We tied in a series of dramatic and emotional narrative scenes, showing the sudden loss of love in relationships, and a scene in which James gets literally more and more bloodied and bruised as the song progresses – the physical embodiment of his emotional pain."
