Indian Trade Bodies Set Sail at Goa Festival
The Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) introduced a novel networking space at this year’s International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa – a three-deck luxury yacht that served as a floating venue for industry events and meetings.
The vessel, dubbed the IMPPA Yacht, hosted over 1,000 visitors during the four-day Film Bazaar segment of IFFI, according to Yusuf Shaikh, IMPPA’s international committee head and CEO of Janta Cinema. More than 30 producers utilized the space for launches, press conferences and networking events.

“We wanted to give our 25,000-plus members and the film fraternity a chance to explore IFFI 2024 in a unique manner and match up to the standards of the Cannes Film Festival,” said IMPPA president Abhay Sinha.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized an event aboard featuring industry veterans Shekhar Kapur, Boman Irani, Bobby Bedi and Nikkhil Advani. The yacht also served as the launch pad for Bedi’s venture, Contentflow Studios. Bedi, known for producing “Bandit Queen” and “Maqbool,” unveiled his upcoming production slate at the event.
Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Vijaykumar Sinha and Information & Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Sanjay Jaju inaugurated the yacht. The venue hosted several notable events, including a masterclass by Bertrand Moullier, senior advisor of international affairs at FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations), focusing on international copyright and IPR laws.
In parallel developments, FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) partnered with the Film Bazaar for its VFX & Tech Pavilion and Market Pavilion initiatives. The organization facilitated over 700 business meetings, connecting more than 500 global and Indian content producers and distributors.
The FICCI-organized India-Spain networking event featured Spain Film Commission’s Juan Manuel Guimerans and delegates including producer Anna Saura, Camilo Vazquez from the Institute for Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), Vicente Gomis of Spain Tourism and ICEX Commercial Office in India, and Guillermo Rodríguez, Director of Casa de la India.
