Iman says she'll never remarry: David Bowie is 'always going to be my husband'
Nearly three years after David Bowie‘s death from liver cancer, Iman is not even thinking about another partner.
“I will never remarry,” the supermodel said in a new interview with Porter magazine. “I mentioned my husband the other day with someone, and they said to me: ‘You mean your late husband?’ I said, ‘No, he is always going to be my husband.'”
Iman, who was married to Bowie for 24 years, said she does miss having a companion but not so much that she’d like to date.
“I do feel very lonely,” said Iman, who wore a necklace with a pendant inscribed “David,” during the interview. “But do I want a relationship? I can’t say never, but no, not now.”
Music fans everywhere continue to mourn Bowie’s death too. Iman noted that she understands their sadness, up to a point.
“People take pictures of me in the street and say [touching my arm]: ‘I am so sorry for your loss.’ I’m like, don’t touch me. You just took pictures of me, how can you be sorry?” Iman said. “I get the fans’ grief, but it’s not the same. They have lost someone they look up to; we have lost a husband and a father.”
Iman, 63, and Bowie had a daughter together, now 18-year-old Alexandria, who goes by “Lexi.” Bowie was also the father of Duncan Jones, 47, who is “close” to Lexi, according to the story. Iman has a daughter, Zulekha, 40, from a previous marriage.
Sometimes, Iman said, she doesn’t want the world to know the extent of her grief over losing Bowie. People then mistakenly take that to mean she has moved on.

“People say to me, ‘Oh, you’re so strong,'” she said. “I’m not strong — I am just trying to keep it together.”
Iman mentioned during the interview that one of daughter Lexi’s biggest fears is leaving her. The teen wants to move to Los Angeles with Jones, but she’s stayed for her mom.
“I tell her: ‘You are not responsible for me,'” Iman said. “It’s the other way around.”
Lexi is taking a break from school — a gap year, following her high school graduation in May — but she could be at least doing some work in L.A. soon, if designers have their way. Iman said she received modeling offers for her daughter after sharing photos of her for this year’s big birthday.

“And every agency, every designer, called me to say: ‘If she wants to, we’d love for her to model for us,'” Iman recalled. “I said: ‘No, she doesn’t.’ I know why they wanted her to model — it’s because she is David Bowie’s daughter.”
Iman said Lexi accuses her of being “overprotective.” The retired model disagrees.
“But I told her, this can all wait, it isn’t going anywhere,” Iman said. “Have a life that is private while you can, because one day soon it is going to be public, so enjoy this.”
