Hurricane Irma: Famous Floridians Urge Those in Path to ‘Stay Calm and Strong’
As Hurricane Irma storms past Cuba and heads toward the southern tip of Florida, famous names who either grew up or have homes in the Sunshine State have taken to Twitter to offer prayers and support to those in the line of destruction.
“Thinking of all our Florida friends near our winter home and elsewhere. Be safe, you guys. Weather the storm,” wrote Stephen King.
“Prayers of solace & support to those already impacted by ‘Irma’ & bracing ourselves for what’s coming. Let us pray! Strength, Floridians,” tweeted Gloria Estefan.

Forty million people in Florida have braced for the Hurricane Irma’s wrath, which is estimated to hit land late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
“Irma is expected to make landfall in Florida as an extremely dangerous major hurricane, and will bring life-threatening wind impacts to much of the state regardless of the exact track of the center,” the National Weather Service said in a statement.
“***THIS IS AS REAL A S IT GETS***” warned an earlier post – and, yes, all in capitals.
Here are a few of the celebs who have reached out to their fellow Floridians.
