‘Home Team’ Comedy Starring Eric Stonestreet In Works At Prime Video From Austin Winsberg, Jason Belleville & Peyton Manning
EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Prime Video has landed Home Team, a half-hour single-camera comedy starring and executive produced by Modern Family Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet. The project hails from Austin Winsberg’s Zihuatanejo Productions, Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, The Tannenbaum Company, Lionsgate Television — where The Tannenbaum Co. and Zihuatanejo are based — and Amazon MGM Studios.
Written by Jason Belleville based on a story by him and Winsberg, Home Team is described as a comedy with a big heart and a love letter to father-son relationships. It follows now-stuck Scott Hansen (Stonestreet) as he moves his dad into a retirement community, begins to get his life back on track in a new workplace and starts to learn how to finally live in the moment from folks who have a lot fewer moments left.

Stonestreet and Belleville, who serves as showrunner, executive produce alongside Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown through Omaha Productions; Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang through The Tannenbaum Company; and Steven Kavovit through Thruline Entertainment.
Home Team is influenced by Stonestreet’s and Manning’s strong relationships with their dads and includes a sports theme via Scott Hansen’s high school history. It finally teams up the duo after Manning did a cameo on Modern Family in 2017 but did not have scenes with Stonestreet, a big Kansas City Chiefs fan who jokingly lamented at the time that he was not able to punch Manning, a top player for rival teams during his football career, in the gut.
Stonestreet starred as Cameron Tucker on ABC’s Modern Family, earning two Emmy Awards in the Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category among a slew of accolades for the role. He also played Magnus Antas (aka the Mad Santa) on Season 2 of Disney+’s The Santa Clauses, recurred on NBC’s American Auto and hosted Fox’s reality competition series Domino Masters.
This marks the latest collaboration between The Tannenbaum Co. and Winsberg through Lionsgate TV. It follows Apple TV+’s bilingual comedy Acapulco, now in its third season, which is created and executive produced by Winsberg, as well as Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and follow-up holiday movie Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, which he also created, executive produced and served as a showrunner on. Winsberg recently produced and co-wrote the Disney+ movie Secret Society of Second-Born Royals.
Belleville was co-executive producer on Acapulco and another Tannenbaum Co./Lionsgate comedy series, ABC’s Home Economics. He is currently a co-executive producer on Fox’s upcoming Denis Leary series Going Dutch.
Omaha Productions executive produces ESPN’s Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli aka the Manningcast as well as the Netflix docuseries Quarterback and Receiver. Up next for the company is Chad Powers, a Hulu scripted comedy series starring and co-created by Glen Powell, and It’s All Country, a docuseries starring Luke Bryan, also for Hulu.
Stonestreet is repped by CAA, Thruline Entertainment and Felker Toczek Suddleson. Winsberg is repped by CAA and attorney Michael Schenkman at Goodman Genow Schenkman. Belleville is repped by Rothman Brecher Ehrich Livingston. The Tannenbaum Company is repped by CAA and Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka.
