Hilarious stand-up, improv, and more at 3rd annual Roanoke Comedy Fest

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– Alternative Arts Inc. and Executive Producer Johnny Camacho is ready to spread laughter across the Star City through its third annual Roanoke Comedy Fest starting Thursday, Aug. 15.

Comedy Fest is a multi-day event bringing together some of the funniest comedians from the region to local bars and community locations. This year’s lineup includes a dynamic mix of stand-up comedians, long-form and short-form improvisation, and workshops focused on teaching the basics of comedy writing and performance.

47th annual Rockbridge Community Festival returns to Brambelton Recreation Center

Here are the dates and venues for this year’s event:

• Thursday, 8/15:

  • 6:30 p.m.: Comedy Themed Trivia and Free Standup show at Twin Creeks Brewing in Vinton

• Friday 8/16:

  • 7:00 p.m.: Elon Altman at the Roanoke City Market Building

  • 9:00 p.m.: Neko White at the Roanoke City Markey Building

• Saturday 8/17:

  • 5:30 p.m.: RCF Presents: The Comedy Commission at Big Lick Brewing

  • 7:30 p.m.: The Roanoke Comedy Fest Improv Extravaganza at 5 Points Music Sanctuary

• Sunday 8/18:

  • 7:00 p.m.: Winston Hodges’ Crowd Work Show at Martins Downtown

Alternative Arts’ core mission is to highlight underrepresented art forms in the Roanoke Valley. All proceeds from this weekend will help fund free and low-cost arts education programs throughout the year.
