Here's An Update On Britney Spears's Relationship With Her Teenage Sons After They Moved To Hawaii With Their Father, Kevin Federline
Britney Spears is moving in a new direction with her family.
In a statement to ET, Britney's ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney provided an update on Britney's relationship with her sons, Jayden and Sean Preston.
Britney currently lives in Los Angeles, and her sons live with their father in Hawaii, but they are not separated by just 2,484 miles.
Now, through Kevin's attorney, there's a new update on Britney's relationship with her sons. "Reconciliations and the reunification of relationships are difficult and take time," he said to ET. "They are sometimes complicated and always a lengthy process. The process has not really commenced, let alone [been] completed."
Recently, Britney's had a strained relationship with her two sons. Kevin alleged that Jayden and Sean were uncomfortable with the censored nude photos posted to Britney's Instagram. "I try to explain to [Sean and Jayden], 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself,'" Kevin told Daily Mail. "But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them. It's tough... I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."
Jayden spoke with ITV News in September of 2022, about his relationship with his mom, saying, "It's almost like she has to post something on Instagram to get some attention," he added. "This has gone on for years and years and years and there's a high chance that this will never stop, but I'm hoping for me that she will stop."
Britney responded to Jayden's interview with a lengthy, now-deleted Instagram statement. "So Jayden, as you undermine my behavior just like my whole family always has with, 'I hope she gets better, I will pray for her,'" Britney said in the deleted clip.
Despite everything said, Britney revealed that she does "miss [her] children desperately" and thinks of them every day, according to Just Jared.
A year later, things look bright for Britney and her sons. On June 25, Kevin's lawyer also stated, "The good thing is that the boys saw their mom was doing well and have a desire to speak with her," he said. "There has been some telephonic communication between Britney and her sons, and we think that is a step in the right direction."
This update comes just a month after Britney said she "wants to prioritize taking care of herself and reestablish a relationship with her family, including her kids," according to a source obtained by ET. "This is a top priority of hers, and she would love to heal things and get to a place where things can be healthy and consistent."
The same source claims that Britney is working on her strained relationships with her other family members, including her mom, Lynne Spears. "Britney's relationship with her mom is up and down, but ultimately she wants to work through their issues with the intention of moving forward in a positive way," they said.
Also, according to the source, Britney's relationship with her sister, Jamie Lynn, is "a work in progress and goes through changes and different waves of emotions."
Happy to hear that Britney and her family are working toward coming together!
