Hellboy: New Look at Reboot The Crooked Man Released
A new still of Jack Kesy as Hellboy from the upcoming reboot, Hellboy: The Crooked Man, has been released by distributor Ketchup Entertainment.
First posted on Ketchup Entertainment’s website, and subsequently shared across the social media platform X, the new Crooked Man still shows Kesy’s Hellboy enjoying a cigar in the woods. Just like Ron Perlman and David Harbour in the previous Hellboy adaptations, Kesy is wearing prosthetics and makeup, as opposed to motion capture/CGI, to bring the titular demon to life.

Who is playing Hellboy in the reboot?
Jack Kesy, who was cast to play Hellboy in March 2023, is perhaps best known for playing Black Tom Cassidy in the 2018 film Deadpool 2. His other credits include leading roles in the television series The Strain and Claws, as well as the 2020 war film The Outpost.
Starring opposite Kesy are Martin Bassindale as Jeremiah Witkins/Crooked Man and Professor Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm, Jefferson White as Tom Ferrell, Adeline Rudolph as Bobbie Jo Song, Joseph Marcell as Reverend Nathaniel Armstrong Watts, Leah McNamara as Effie Kolb, and Hannah Margetson as Cora Fisher.
The Crooked Man is the first Hellboy movie to have franchise creator Mike Mignola involved in a creative capacity, having co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Golden. Set in the 1950s, the upcoming reboot finds Hellboy and a rookie Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense agent stranded in rural Appalachia where they discover a small community haunted by witches and led by The Crooked Man, a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past.
Production on The Crooked Man took place in Bulgaria between March and May 2023, with Brian Taylor (Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) in the director’s chair. The budget for the Millennium Media produced feature is reported to be around $25 million. The first trailer was released earlier this month.
Hellboy: The Crooked Man does not yet have a release date.
