‘Hell’s Kitchen 23’ episode 10 recap: Who was eliminated in ‘A Sticky Situation’?
Tonight on “Hell’s Kitchen,” the chefs take a walk down memory lane before the one iconic challenge that returns year after year, the blind taste test! Each chef will either correctly guest the ingredient they are tasting or find themselves in a sticky situation! Then, in a special dinner service, both teams must prove they have what it takes to stay in the competition and only one team will come out on top in the all-new “A Sticky Situation” episode of “Hell’s Kitchen: Head Chefs Only” airing Thursday, Dec. 5 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Here’s how the teams stacked up:

Blue Team: Brandon, Egypt, Joe, Kyle
Red Team: Amanda, Ann Marie, Brittany, Hannah, Whit
After Gordon Ramsay axed Lulu last week, the Red Team is left with a one-chef advantage. When teams arrived back at the kitchen the next morning, they were met with the classic blind taste test! It’s always one of the most fun challenges of the year, and if the contestants answer incorrectly, one of their teammates will get absolutely slimed with maple syrup in the process. The team to correctly identify the most ingredients wins the challenge. Each chef tasted four items. Here’s each player scored:
Amanda: 4 points
Ann Marie: 0 points
Brandon: 2 points
Brittany: Did not participate
Egypt: 0 points
Hannah: 3 points
Joe: 1 point
Kyle: 0 points
Whit: 2 points
The Red Team easily won the challenge by a score of 9-3. To celebrate, Gordon sent them to a dessert party and gave each of them a bunch of OXO cookware. The Blue Team stayed in the kitchen and cleaned up all the maple syrup and sugar cereal.
That evening everyone returned for dinner service. Before guests even arrived, Whit was already fed up with Brittany, who she says needs help every night on every station. Meanwhile, Joe is suffering for homesickness, leading to a tearful video confessional about his wife and kids. The VIP guests tonight are former NBA star Lamar Odom and legendary magicians Penn & Teller.
Right off the bat, Joe struggled with the fish station, requiring Gordon to step in and encourage him. Despite the rocky start, Joe is able to serve up some beautiful scallops. Over on the Red Team, Amanda is now complaining about Brittany, who didn’t properly set up her fish station. Although Brittany set up the station, it’s Amanda who served the misshaped scallops and gets an earful from Gordon. “Standards!”
Appetizers went fairly smooth and entree orders began pouring in. Egypt excels on the meat station for the Blue Team, earning a shout out from Lamar Odom, thanking him for the “delicious” steak. Over on the Red Team, Ann Marie sets her pan on fire before serving up a raw steak. Back on the Blue Team, Kyle struggled to keep up on the garnish station, but there weren’t any real disasters. Overall, a smooth dinner service from the Blue squad.
Ann Marie continues to get slammed by Gordon when her beef Wellingtons aren’t cooked in time. Eventually she serves them up, cooked perfectly, and both teams complete dinner service strong. Gordon decides tonight’s winning team is the Blue Team. The Red Team then nominated Brittany and Ann Marie for elimination.
After Brittany and Ann Marie plead their case to stay, Gordon asks everyone else on the Red Team who they’d be better off without. They all say Brittany. Gordon listens and cuts Brittany from the competition, stating, “Brittany’s team felt they needed to hold her hand, so, it was time for me to lead her out the door.”
