Helix Season 2 Video Teases New Viral Outbreak, Ominous Steven Weber

The new season of Syfy’s Helix brings a new viral mystery to solve — and from the looks of this exclusive teaser video, Steven Weber‘s enigmatic cult leader may be at the crux of it.

Season 2 of the sci-fi drama finds Billy Campbell’s Dr. Alan Farragut and his CDC team, still haunted by the Narvik crisis at Arctic Biosystems, investigating the outbreak of a new disease on a Windjammer. Clues lead them to an island inhabited by a cult that is dead-set on creating a utopian society.

Weber (Murder in the First, Studio 60) will heavily recur as Brother Michael, the cult’s charismatic leader… who just so happens to be a world-class geneticist. Hmmm.

Helix Season 2 will be released Friday, Jan. 16 at 10/9c, leading out of the 12 Monkeys series premiere.
