HBO Renews Bill Hader’s ‘Barry’ for Season 3
HBO has renewed “Barry” for a third season, the network said on Wednesday.
The pickup comes two episodes into the Bill Hader-led series’ second season, which premiered on March 31.
“Barry” stars Hader in the title role as a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest who finds himself drawn into a community of acting students while on a job in Los Angeles.

In the second season, Barry is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But while Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place?
“Barry” also stars Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, D’Arcy Carden and Henry Winkler. The HBO comedy won three Emmys for its first season, including acting wins for Hader and Winkler.
“Barry” was created by Hader and “Silicon Valley’s” Alec Berg, who also executive produce, with Aida Rodgers as co-executive producer. On Tuesday, the series was among the nominees for this year’s Peabody Awards in the entertainment category.
