‘Hawkeye’ Series With Jeremy Renner in Development at Disney+
Disney+ is developing a series starring Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an individual with knowledge with the project tells TheWrap.
The series would be the fourth to star a character from Marvel Studios’ expansive big-screen roster. Disney has previously announced a Loki series, which will star Tom Hiddleston. Marvel Studios is also developing “The Vision and Scarlet Witch” and another one starring Anthony Mackie’s Falcon and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.
The project would be an adventure series in which Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, will pass the torch to Kate Bishop. In the comics, Barton abandons the Hawkeye moniker to become Ronin — something heavily teased to happen in “Avengers: Endgame” — and Bishop takes up the mantle. Bishop is speculated to appear in “Endgame.”

Renner is one of the original members of Marvel Studios’ “Avengers” roster, and the only one to not get his own standalone project. Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is getting her own standalone film, which is being directed by Cate Shortland. Renner last appeared in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” but will return in “Endgame.”
The series for Disney+ will all be produced by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige, instead of Marvel TV, which is behind ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and the former Netflix shows like “Daredevil” and “Luke Cage.”
Disney+ will be formally unveiled Thursday during an investor event at the company’s Burbank-California studios.
Variety first reported the news of the “Hawkeye” series.
