Have We Met the Real Killer on 'The Night Of'?

The identity of real killer — and Naz’s chance at vindication — may have been revealed on Sunday’s The Night Of. While Naz was settling into the prison life by shaving his head, beating a foe, and smuggling drugs, his lawyer, Jack Stone, trolled the streets looking for holes in the prosecution’s case.

Jack tracked down Trevor, the witness who had a few choice words for Nasir and Andrea as they walked to her house. Trevor lied to the police, saying he was alone that night. At a laundromat, Jack said to Trevor, “That couple you saw on the street, you exchanged words with, something about "Mustafa, bombs…’ so on. All right, that’s free speech. But you said you were alone. That’s not all right. That’s a legal problem there.”

Trevor revealed that he was walking with a man named Duane Reade, like the drugstore. Jack was incredulous but later found Duane to be a real man with an even more real history. Jack said to Naz’s other attorney, Chandra, “There’s a warrant out on him right now, and he’s got a record.” His crimes all happened in the same precinct as the one in which Andrea was killed. This could be Andrea’s real killer.

Jack tracked Duane Reade to the back of a bodega only to have him flee and enter a dark building with Jack chasing him.

The Night Of airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
