Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson, and Penélope Cruz Among New Wave of Oscar Presenters
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a new wave of celebrity presenters for the 97th Academy Awards. Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, and Bowen Yang will all be at the Dolby Theater to hand out Oscars on March 2.
They join a lineup of presenters that already includes last year’s acting winners Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, Robert Downey Jr., and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

The categories that each star will be presenting have not been announced, though Oscar tradition dictates that the previous year’s Best Actor winner presents the award for Best Actress and vice versa, with the supporting categories following suit.
This year’s Oscars will be hosted by Conan O’Brien, with Raj Kapoor serving as producer and showrunner alongside executive producer Katy Mullan. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, O’Brien explained that he hopes to use the show as an opportunity to tastefully raise further awareness on the damages that Los Angeles suffered during the wildfires.
“You never know one way or the other. It’s a moving target, so I want to make sure we do that show that meets the moment on March 2,” O’Brien said. “And that we put a light on a lot of the people in LA that have been affected — that we’re a mixture of sensitive, but also understanding and, I hope, uplifting. That there’s some fun.”
Rumors have also swirled that the ceremony will begin with a performance from “Wicked” stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who received nominations for Best Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively. Grande neither confirmed nor denied those rumors while speaking to IndieWire at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival over the weekend.
“It would be really fun,” Grande said of potentially opening the show. “We will have our thermoses, our pink and green thermoses, filled with tea. Hers will probably be rose and an English breakfast mixed together or something like that. In case, we’ll be ready, but I know nothing.”
The 2025 Oscars will air live on ABC and stream live on Hulu on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The official live red carpet show will air at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
