Gunther To Bret Hart: You’ll Always Be A Close Second To My All-Time Favorite, Bill Goldberg
Gunther interrupted Bret Hart‘s return to WWE RAW and took a shot at the WWE Hall of Famer.
WWE RAW emanated from Calgary on September 9, and “The Hitman” made his buzzworthy return to the show. However, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther crashed the celebratory moment and told Hart that he might be the best there was, but he personally was the best there is and the best there ever would be.
Gunther then told Hart that he would always be a close second to his actual favorite, who was none other than Bill Goldberg.

Sami Zayn came out and confronted the champion, and “The Ring General” again turned down his challenge. Hart called Gunther a coward, and Zayn brawled with the champion.
Goldberg brought Bret Hart’s in-ring career to a premature end with an errant kick in their match at WCW Starrcade 1999, as Hart suffered a severe concussion. Over the years, Hart has since made it clear that he remains frustrated with Goldberg over the incident.
