The Grey’s Anatomy Divorce News *No One* Saw Coming

This couple is officially divorced. And it was pretty fast, too. But why did former Grey’s Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and their husband Ryan DeBolt call it quits?

Why Did Sara Ramirez and Ryan DeBolt Divorce?
US Weekly confirms that Ramirez and DeBolt have officially reached a divorce settlement, less than two months after filing. Neither party will receive spousal support, and as long as the judge signs off, their marriage is set to officially end on December 16.
Ramirez, better known for their role as Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy, but who recently appeared as Che Diaz on the Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That, filed a dissolution of marriage on June 11. The reason given for ending the marriage was irreconcilable differences. Ramirez requested their assets be divided from DeBolt’s per the prenuptial agreement they both signed and listed their date of separation as January 1, 2018.
The couple publicly announced their breakup in 2021, three whole years after the listed date.

“Ryan and I are no longer together. We remain loving and supportive in how we are choosing to forge our new individual paths,” Ramirez wrote on Instagram in July 2021. “Thank you for holding space around our choices and respecting our families’ privacy as we navigate this process on our own terms.”
In a November 2021 interview with Out Magazine, Ramirez shared that they are still on good terms with DeBolt. “I married the right man because there’s no one else I’d rather be getting divorced from,” Ramirez said “We have the kind of foundation of love where we can joke like that. But it’s because we’re holding space for each other as friends.”
Ramirez also appeared in Madam Secretary and the recent animated series Velma. During their time on Grey’s Anatomy, they were one half of a fan-favorite ship, Calzona, which has led to numerous rumors about a possible return to the medical drama. But neither Ramirez nor the team behind the show has confirmed whether Callie Torres could ever return, though the fact that Jessica Capshaw, who plays Arizona Robbins, the other half of Calzona, showed up on the show last year, bodes well for the possibility of Ramirez returning to the show that made them famous. So, nothing is set in stone, but never say never.
