Glen Powell look-alike contest: Does the winner look like the 'Twisters' star?

What started with a Timothee Chalamet look-alike contest in New York City in October steadily ballooned into a trend with look-alike contests held across the country (and world) for celebrities including Zayn Malik, Dev Patel and Jeremy Allen White.

A Glen Powell look-alike contest was held this weekend in the actor's hometown of Austin, Texas, and while Powell himself did not make an appearance, he sent in a video and a prize for the winner. (Powell is currently filming Edgar Wright's "The Running Man" remake in the U.K.)

"Welcome to the Justin Hartley look-alike contest," Powell joked in the video. "In all seriousness, I have assembled you here today for an important mission. I want to pull off a heist, and we don't need masks because we all have the same face. It's the perfect crime! They can't get all of us because we are one: a criminal Glenterprise."

The "Twisters" actor in the video then announced a special prize worth "$6 billion" for the winner.

"You may know that my parents make a cameo in every movie I make, but today the winner of the Glen Powell look-alike contest wins their parents, or any family member of their choice, a cameo in my next movie," Powell said. "I am completely serious. This is a cash-value prize of $6 billion."

Nearly 20 men showed up to the actor's look-alike contest held on the shores of Lady Bird Lake. Several contestants channeled the actor's look in "Twisters," with see-through, skintight white shirts and denim. Others mirrored the actor's Longhorn pride, complete with flannel and cowboy hats. One of them dressed up in an Air Force pilot suit referencing Powell's role in the 2022 film "Top Gun: Maverick."

After several rounds during which the contestants shared their interpretations of Powell's charm and charisma, the judges chose Max Braunstein, who dressed as Powell's character, Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin, from "Top Gun: Maverick" took home the title and the prizes, which includes a cowboy hat, a year's supply of Torchy's Tacos, and a cameo in Powell's next film.

The look-alike was crowned with a black cowboy hat and a medal and a call from the man himself, though Braunstein "had a hard time hearing him," he told the Statesman.

Glen Powell's mom, aunt choose winner

Though Powell himself could not make it, the actor’s mom, Cyndy Powell, and aunt, Kathleen Fish, were VIP judges at the event organized by UT grad student Kate Carpenter and her friends, the Austin American Statesman, part of the USA TODAY Network reported.

"This is just me wanting to make sure Austin didn’t get left out of the loop of this whole current affair going on across the nation," Carpenter told the Statesman on why she organized the event. "Austin is known for its creative spunk and excitement, and this was the perfect event to match that energy.”
