Gina Rodriguez is among an elite group of celebrities whose flawless skin we can’t help but gawk at. And now the Jane the Virgin actress is letting us in on all her dedicated regimen. Having partnered with Clinique earlier this year for its Difference Maker campaign, the Golden Globe nominee is teaming up with the brand once again to reveal her awards season beauty essentials.
The star is the first to admit great genes are one reason for her enviable complexion. “My mom and my father have beautiful skin. So I feel very lucky,” the actress tells PeopleStyle.
But she also learned about the importance of a solid skin care routine at an early age. “My mom always wore Clinique, so it was a staple in our household. She would use the Liquid Facial soap and the old-school Superdefense moisturizer.”

Like her mother, Rodriguez starts every day with the same cleanser, which she included in her curated list of required pre- and post-red carpet products, along with five other skin care necessities and two makeup must-haves.
Rodriguez reveals that her awards show prep starts the night before, with Clinique’s Moisture Surge Overnight Mask.
“It’s like a big drink of water for my face — and I wake up to an incredible glow,” she shares.

Then first thing in the morning she uses on its iconic 3-Step Skin Care System (washing her face with the aforementioned cleanser, then exfoliating and moisturizing). And because she “never gets a lot of sleep before big events,” next up she slathers on its Pep-Start Eye Cream.
“My mom recently told me, ‘Don’t wait until you’re older to start eye treatments.’ I’d never really thought about it, in all honesty, so I was like, “OK, mom. For sure.’ But she’s right,” Rodriguez says.

When it comes to her color cosmetics, she’s got a dynamic duo: Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm because “they’re perfect for on-the-go touchups — no mirror required,” and its Stay Matte Universal Blotting Powder, which she calls “my makeup artist before I hop out of the car. Camera flashes hide nothing, and this powder keeps shine in check.”

After a long night, she wipes away her makeup with the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. “I try to keep it very simple,” she says.
