Miranda Lambert is a gigantic personality on stage. She commands the crowd with elegance and makes her job of being a country music star seem easy. However, that doesn't mean that Lambert always has to take center stage and be the center of attention.

Back in 2011 Miranda Lambert formed a country girl trio called the Pistol Annies with Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley.

In an interview with Nashville Scene, Lambert stated that she loves to step to the side when she performs with them.

"It’s hard for us to tour at any time, and especially last year because Angaleena was pregnant," Lambert told the Nashville Scene. "But it’s awesome for me when we do, because Lone Star Annie is a lot more fun than Miranda Lambert. When Ashley and Angaleena come out onstage during my show, it’s comforting because I get to be a side person for a while.”

Lambert has invited the Pistol Annies on tour with her multiple times including her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour she had last year.

The group has gained some notable success since its start in 2011 including a feature on The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond album. They also performed a cover of "Tulsa Time" on a Don Williams tribute album titled Gentle Giants: The Songs of Don Williams.

As for awards, they have been nominated for New Artist of the Year at the American Country Awards, Group Video of the Year and Breakout Video of the Year at the CMT Awards, and most recently they were nominated for the best country album at the 2020 Grammys.

Lambert also wishes that their newest album was more known.

“It pains me every day because people don’t know more about Interstate Gospel,” Lambert says. “It’s a lot different from our first album, which came out in 2011 when we were in our 20s. The music has matured with us."

"Interstate Gospel" is the group's third studio album and was released in late 2018. The album hasn't reached even 100,000 sales and is so far the worst-performing album from the trio.

Hippie Annie, Hollar Annie, and Lone Star Annie (the alter egos of the performers in the trio) are still going to be making music that allows Lambert to step outside of herself and the spotlight.

What is next for the trio is unknown, but it can be certain that the Annies will probably pop up at a concert or two along Lambert's Wildcard Tour. You can learn more about Miranda Lambert's tour on her website to see if she is coming to a city near you.
