Geraldo reveals the two things Trump has done that almost went too far
On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a longtime friend of Donald Trump, Geraldo Rivera, answered a fan who asked if there’s anything the president could do that would make Geraldo write him off. Geraldo said Trump has already done two things that made him come close.
One was during a meeting on immigration at the White House, when Trump reportedly referred to Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations as “s***hole countries.” “I was in the hospital getting back surgery and my nurse was from Kenya,” Geraldo said. “I wrote the president immediately and said how he had hurt her feelings by saying that.” Cohen asked if Trump responded and Geraldo replied, “He has not responded to that particular message.”
The other thing that upset Geraldo was something Trump denies happened: When he mocked New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who suffers from a congenital joint condition, arthrogryposis, at a South Carolina campaign rally.
“I came close when he made fun of the disabled New York Times reporter,” Geraldo said. “Because that’s my big crusade through life has been to help the developmentally disabled, and I thought mocking the disabled reporter was a bridge too far.”
So Geraldo says it happened, Trump says it didn’t. Surely there are very fine people on both sides of the argument. Nonetheless, Geraldo also shared what he’d do to help the American people if only he could. “If I could do a public service for America, I would be his tweet editor. That would be wonderful,” Geraldo said.
“I would love that,” Cohen replied.
