‘Gasland’ Director Josh Fox Signs With 5X Media
EXCLUSIVE: Josh Fox, the director behind HBO’s Gasland documentaries, has signed with international studio and talent manager 5XMedia for representation.
Fox is known for making films that place emphasis on climate and the environment, and joins 5X fresh off of his off-Broadway-documentary hybrid performances of The Edge of Nature.

His upcoming films include HBO climate refugee documentary The Welcome Table and his new Florida doc Rebekah Jones, Whistleblower, which is being co-produced with Christopher Leggett and Delirio Films.
Past films include Awake, A Dream from Standing Rock for Netflix, How to Let Go of the World and Love (And All the Things Climate Can’t Change for HBO and his scripted feature Memorial Day, co-produced by Michael Stipe. He also made Gasland and Gasland Part II for HBO. Both films focused on the communities impacted by the controversial natural gas drilling practice fracking.

Swidler, who is a partner at 5X, added: “Josh’s work has unquestionably changed the world, giving an intimately personal touch to huge issues that affect us all. He does this while at the same time being a thrilling storyteller- emotionally impactful and, at times, hilarious. We haven’t come across a talent like his that’s as unique as it is broad. We’re beyond thrilled to represent and collaborate with him.“
Fox is among the latest signings at 5X, following those of writer/director of Go Fish and Ginny & Georgia Rose Troche; content creator Rami Zeinn; Keeping Up with the Kardashians EP Glen Gottlieb; Freak Brothers co-creators The Leher Boys; and Love After Music writer/showrunner Juan Carballo.
5X has offices in LA, Cape Town in South Africa and Madrid in Spain, and has been building an international production, talent management and TV and film sales company that claims to be “uniquely positioned for the next generation of the entertainment and media business.” It launched in January 2023.
