Frigid Temperatures Have Turned Niagara Falls Into a Winter Wonderland — See for Yourself!

There aren’t many things that thrive in sub-zero temperatures — but Niagara Falls is one of them.

As the northern United States is battling days of way-below-freezing temperatures, everything — as you might expect — is freezing. That includes one of the world’s most famous and majestic waterfalls, which has been transformed into a icicle-filled winter wonderland in the face of the frigid weather.

And the resulting photos of this stunning, Frozen-esque winter scene are unbelievably gorgeous.

The water is still flowing through the falls — 3,000 tons of it every second — but is surrounded by ice. Everything around the falls is covered in snow, from the trees to the ground to the icicles.

Zieong Zhang told Buffalo News that he drove seven hours from his home in Jersey City, New Jersey, to see the falls in all their winter glory. It’s a view, he says, that tops the falls in the summer.

“I came here in the summertime four years ago,” Zhang said. “It was good, but it wasn’t like this. This is just outstanding, with all the snow, and the trees coated like sugar.”

It’s a view that likely isn’t going away anytime soon: Temperatures are supposed to get down to just two degrees Fahrenheit later this week, with snow coming down in the next few days, too.
