Fred Armisen Just Wore Vampire Fangs on the Emmys Red Carpet
Fred Armisen made an interesting fashion statement at the 2018 Emmys red carpet Monday night: He wore fangs. Because, funny people can get away with that sort of thing? Or perhaps he's just getting an early start on Halloween?
The 51-year-old comedian brought his girlfriend, Natasha Lyonne, who fittingly wore a blood red dress to match Armisen's mouth accessory.
The devil is in the details, however, and to go along with the vampire theme, Armisen wore a red pocket square and a red medallion in the center of his tie.
On Twitter, people aired out their feelings about the interesting fashion choice, of course. The responses consisted mostly of viewers who felt either confused or surprised, and, honestly, same.
Lyonne and Armisen did not give an explanation for their attire, but Lyonne seemed to have no regrets about the choice since she tweeted a photo of the pair right after walking the red carpet.
Armisen was attending the 70th annual Emmy Awards because his sketch comedy series Portlandia, which aired for eight seasons, is nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series. Other nominees in that category include At Home With Amy Sedaris, Drunk History, I Love You, America, Tracy Ullman's Show, and Armisen's alma mater, Saturday Night Live.
Lyonne, who is best known for her role as Nicky Nichols on Orange Is the New Black, was not nominated, but was there to support Armisen as his date. The couple first sparked romance rumors after they were spotted being "very flirty and talking very closely" at a Variety and Women in Film Emmy Nominee Celebration in 2014.
It's all come full circle.
