Former Endemol Execs Church and Flynn Launch Indie TV Outfit

LONDON — Former Endemol senior executives Lucas Church and David Flynn have joined forces to launch a new indie television, video and digital outfit dubbed youngest Media. The London-based shingle will look to deliver ambitious content across a variety of platforms including broadcasters, commercial partners, digital platforms and directly to audiences. It aims to use its content to ultimately build up a network of fans across the globe.
“The best multiplatform entertainment comes from knowing which ideas work best for each platform – and when to combine them,” said Church, former CEO and chairman for Endemol Shine U.K. “We’re committed to connecting directly with our audiences from day one and using that data to get a better understanding of what works and doesn’t. It’s an approach interestingly used by brands and platforms and one which our industry will need to adopt, especially with the increasing financial risks being taken by creators as old funding models shift.”
Flynn added: “Creatives want to work in an environment where their ideas have the best chance of being seen by as wide an audience as possible. By operating across television, video and products, youngest Media will champion the best ideas and get them out there quickly.”
Church, who exited Endemol Shine U.K. in fall 2015, played a key role in bringing Endemol and Shine together following their merger in January 2015. He was also instrumental in launching and overseeing the company’s digital channel network, Endemol Beyond, which has been rolled out across multiple markets, and now has some 1.7 billion monthly views.
Flynn, who exited Endemol Shine U.K. in April 2015, was former chief creative officer at the company, responsible for overseeing creativity across the group. He created and exec produced BAFTA-winning “The Million Pound Drop,” which aired in 54 territories, and co-created and exec produced BBC1 hit game show “Pointless” in addition to talent show “The Singer Takes It All.” He was previously managing director of Remarkable Television and co-chaired Endemol’s U.K. digital board alongside Church.
