First look at LeBron James-produced 'I Promise' documentary on his school for at-risk youth

Launching April 6, the new mobile-first media platform Quibi promises to change the way you consume video. And the new documentary series I Promise will be part of that change. Produced by LeBron James’s Springhill Entertainment production company in association with RYOT and Blowback Productions, I Promise offers a behind-the-scenes look at the Akron, Ohio-based I Promise School, supported by hometown basketball superstar James through the LeBron James Family Foundation.

The first trailer for the series premiered today, and features James outlining his hopes for the school, which is designed for at-risk children. “When you grow up in the inner city in the projects, no one cares about you,” James says. “I didn’t know how to create a school, but let’s figure it out.” (Watch the trailer above.)

I Promise opened its doors in 2018, and the series will chronicle the students and teachers that were part of its first year. As with all of Quibi’s shows — which include narrative series like Survive, starring Sophie Turner — each episode will be 10 minutes or less. Based on this trailer, we promise that you’ll be hooked.

I Promise will premiere on Quibi in April.
