First Look: Jude Law Plays Pope Pius XIII in Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘The Young Pope’
LONDON — The first image has been released from TV miniseries “The Young Pope,” which stars Jude Law as Lenny Belardo, Pope Pius XIII. The image shows Belardo on a reclining chair under the Rome sun.
The cast also includes Diane Keaton, Silvio Orlando, Scott Shepherd, Cecile de France, Javier Camara, Ludivine Sagnier, Toni Bertorelli and James Cromwell.
Paolo Sorrentino, who directed the Academy Award-winning film “The Great Beauty” and “Youth,” which played in competition in Cannes this year, will direct all eight episodes of the drama, which started shooting recently.
The show is a co-production between pay TV companies Sky, HBO and Canal Plus.
