Get Your First Look at Hallmark's New Series Based on the NY Times Bestseller 'The Chicken Sisters'
While Hallmark Channel is best known for their Christmas movies, the network has multiple series in its cache. Some have run their course—Chesapeake Shores, Cedar Cove and Ride come to mind—but others are still going strong. Hallmark's longest-running series, When Calls the Heart, started production on Season 12 in June and time-bending family drama The Way Home has been renewed for Season 3. Now, a new series will be joining Hallmark's flock: The Chicken Sisters is in production and will be coming to the feel-good channel newly rebranded streaming service, Hallmark+ this fall.
Read on for the scoop we know about The Chicken Sisters so far.
What is The Chicken Sisters about?
The Chicken Sisters is a family drama dipped in Southern charm and served with a saucy side of romance. Set in the fictional town of Merinac, a generations-old rift between dueling fried chicken restaurants has left the founders’ families fractured and locals taking sides. Things really heat up when popular cooking competition show Kitchen Clash comes to town. Will this be the recipe for ending the feud between Mimi’s and Frannie’s once and for all? Or will the heat be too much inside and outside of the kitchen as the reality show spotlight causes sparks to fly, secrets to be spilled and feathers to get ruffled?
“Annie Mebane blew us away with her vision for The Chicken Sisters—her unique spin and enthusiasm for this fried chicken feud had us excited from day one,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president, programming, Hallmark Media, at the Television Critics Association summer confab. “And talk about a dream cast! Schuyler, Genevieve, Lea and Wendie are the perfect actors to lead this witty and heartfelt story. We are confident that each episode is going leave our viewers craving more and more.”
