Faster Horses Festival brings country music stars, fans back to Irish Hills this weekend
CAMBRIDGE TWP. — It's that time of year again when thousands of country music fans descend upon the Irish Hills for three days of music and revelry.
Faster Horses opens Friday, July 14, and continues through Sunday night, July 16, at Michigan International Speedway. Shania Twain makes her Faster Horses debut this year, headlining the Sunday slate of performances. Luke Bryan is the headliner Friday, and Zac Brown Band is featured Saturday.
Many other country stars are scheduled to perform on the main stage throughout the weekend, including Conner Smith, Chris Cagle, Blanco Brown, and Dustin Lynch on Friday; Kylie Morgan, Warren Zeiders, Mike., and Dwight Yoakum on Saturday; and Tenille Townes, Hailey Whitters, Kameron Marlowe, Dylan Scott, and Billy Currington on Sunday.
The Next from Nashville stage will feature several up-and-coming performers.
Three-day passes are still on sale, starting at $249 with assorted upgrade options available. Single-day passes are not available. Parking and camping fees are extra. Passes can be bought online at fasterhorsesfestival.com/passes and picked up at the festival's will call booth.
Faster Horses isn't just about the music. Many activities are also available, including a braid bar where festivalgoers can have their hair braided; a campsite contest; the Faster Horses Dating Game blind date competition; the Faster Humans Fun Run on Saturday; a classic car show on Sunday afternoon near the west gate; line dancing at the onsite saloon, Whiskey Dick's; and sand volleyball.
The festival has been marred in recent years by accidental deaths and complaints of criminal activity at the campsites. The festival has established a "See Something, Say Something" hotline where messages can be texted to 313-646-7737 stating the nature and location of the issue. Its website contains a list of camping safety tips, such as how to correctly stage RVs at campsites and information about carbon monoxide poisoning, including advice to have working smoke and CO detectors. All weapons are banned from the festival grounds.

A lawsuit against Faster Horses promoter Live Nation and MIS by the estates of three young men who died from carbon monoxide poisoning and two others who were sickened during the 2021 Faster Horses Festival was dismissed this spring in Lenawee County Circuit Court. That ruling has been appealed to the Michigan Court of Appeals where Live Nation has an Aug. 8 deadline to file a response.
