That Was Fast! Peta Murgatroyd Announces First Job Since Leaving DWTS — and It Involves Maks

Peta Murgatroyd won’t be on Dancing With the Stars Season 33, but she’s already busy with a new project that involves her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The couple will be giving fans an inside look at their personal life.

What’s Peta Murgatroyd Doing Next After Leaving DWTS?
During an August 29 Instagram Live, Murgatroyd revealed that she would not be returning for the upcoming season of DWTS as a pro. At the time, she explained that it was “just too soon” to return after having a baby. “In terms of me, Dancing With the Stars… guys, I’m sorry, it’s not this season,” she said.
Murgatroyd noted that mentally, she could take on the challenge but physically, she needs more time. Plus, she wants to be with her family right now.
“It’s really sad because I actually really, really wanted to come back. I really did, but guys, they started days ago — there’s no way I am ready physically,” she shared. “Mentally, yeah I’m okay, but physically, I’m not up to par. I would have needed to really get my act into gear, so to speak, because you need to be top of your game for this type of stuff. And I don’t want to let anybody down, I don’t want to be half-hearted. And I want to be here for my babies and I don’t want to miss things. And I feel like it’s too much too soon.”

The dancer and her husband have been busy with an intimate project that promises to be very revealing – a reality show that includes a peek at their lives raising their three sons, Shai, Rio, and Milan.
On September 6, Murgatroyd announced the new show in an Instagram post. “IT’S FINALLY HERE !!!!!!! ?????? You’ve asked for it, you got it! This is the most intimate look into our family life as we let cameras into our home,” she wrote in the caption.
The DWTS pro continued, “This is the MAKS & PETA Show and we cannot wait to share our family with you next Friday… but in the meantime here is a teaser of our season. Please go and SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel (link in bio) in order to see our first episode. Let the countdown begin ??.”
She added, “We are so grateful for each and every one of you and we hope this show brings you joy and a lotta laughs! Love Maks and Peta Xo.”
In the clip, Maks says, “Why now? Because we have so much life happening and it’s such everyday craziness.” There’s no shortage of material, it seems, with a pregnant Murgatroyd explaining, “It’s just been an emotional roller coaster, honestly, to say the least. I honestly just wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s the best.”

In a September 10 Instagram post, Murgatroyd shared another peek at the show. “We can’t wait for the premiere of ‘The Maks and Peta Show’ this Friday on our YouTube channel!!! Please click on the link in our bios to subscribe (ITS FREE!) ?????? The fun is about to begin! XO.”
In the video, the DWTS pro explains that they’re moving into a new home but they have “a laundry list of stuff to do.”
Maks Chmerkovskiy isn’t sure her description of their “small apartment” is exactly accurate, however. “We’re in a three bedroom apartment in Malibu. These bougie kids are not going to live… oh my god,” he joked.
Fans shared their excitement about Maks and Peta’s show, with one commenting, “My fav couple and beautiful family. Congratulations” and another saying, “Can’t wait! You guys are so ‘real’ and we love you for that!”
One fan noted, “Oh my gosh !!!! I’m so excited for this. I have always said you guys need your own reality show. You literally crack me up with your posts/videos on Instagram.”
