Fashion designer's awkward moment presenting Gwen Stefani with Fashion Icon Award
During the People’s Choice Awards airing Sunday on E!, designer Jeremy Scott was selected to present Gwen Stefani with the Fashion Icon Award. And while he’s great at making people look fabulous, he’s not so good at reading teleprompters.
Scott, who is the creative director of Moschino fashion brand, is a long-time friend of Stefani. He designs everything from dresses to handbags, but many people know him because of his whimsical shoe designs.
The presentation started off well for Scott but then he seemed to lose his place in the teleprompter. After repeating a line in the prompter he said, “Sorry, I’ve never read a monitor before.”
Scott took the flub in stride and joked with the audience. “You have to understand this is not my normal domain,” said Scott. “And it needs to be a bit bigger because I can't see it that far.”
Scott continued the presentation, slowly but surely, and when Stefani came up on stage she gave a very enthusiastic hug.
