Fans Smell a 'Lawsuit' Coming as Donald Trump Campaign Unveils Taylor Swift-Inspired Merch
It looks like (Trump's Version) of Taylor Swift's merchandise may not be a big seller.
Just two days after the "Anti-Hero" songstress publicly backed Vice President Kamala Harris for the upcoming 2024 election, Donald Trump's campaign appears to be making a last-ditch effort to get more Swifties on his side—and many of them are literally not buying it.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Trump campaign released a new T-shirt design that is undoubtedly inspired by the very recognizable merchandise for Swift's international Eras Tour.
But instead of seeing the "Cruel Summer" songstress' various album covers on the front of the shirt, Trump's campaign created a new version that depicts 10 different photos of the former president, including even his mug shot.
The shirt is being advertised with the line, "Look What You Made Me Do," which is the title of one of Swift's songs from her 2017 album Reputation.
Underneath the design, instead of reading the words "Taylor Swift The Eras Tour," the copycat version reads, "Donald J. Trump Make America Great Again" in just about the same exact font style.

After the design of the T-shirts started going viral on social media, many of Swift's fans were annoyed with Trump, 78, for "ripping off" the singer's merch, especially since she has already voiced her support for his opponent.
"This is so pathetic," said one user on X (formerly Twitter), while others theorized that the merch would only further amplify many Swifties' disdain for Trump.
One person suggested, "All this is gonna do is increase swiftie registrations to vote for Kamala."
Another echoed sarcastically, "This won't backfire spectacularly at all."
Many Swifties also began predicting that the 14-time Grammy winner would take legal action against Trump, who has already tried using AI-generated images to feign support from Swift.
"I see a copyright lawsuit in the making based on the design," another user on Twitter wrote.
Someone else warned, "This is not the bear I would be poking."
Swifties seemed to be much more pleased with Harris' version of Swift-themed election merch, including friendship bracelets with beads that read "Harris Walz."
Swift, 34, took to Instagram to endorse Harris just shortly after the debate ended on Tuesday evening. In her post, the singer not only told fans she would be voting for Harris, but she also encouraged first-time voters to get registered ahead of November's election.
Per the New York Times, Swift's post caused around 406,000 people to click on the link to register to vote.
