Fans Can't Get Over Hoda Kotb's Genuine 'Bestie' Moment With Thomas Rhett's Wife Lauren Akins
There's nothing like reconnecting with a good friend. Hoda Kotb and Lauren Akins were thrilled to see each other on Friday, August 23, when Akins' husband Thomas Rhett played a concert on Today—and fans can't get enough of the sweet "bestie" moment.
In a video posted to Instagram by both Kotb and Today, Akins and Kotb were all smiles as they shared a big hug before Rhett's performance. "Reuniting with your bestie," read the text over the footage.
Viewers raved about the heartwarming display of friendship.
"Two of the most amazing, humble humans. ??them!!" wrote one Instagram user.
"Lauren Akins and Hoda seem to be the most genuine, down-to-earth women who are also naturally beautiful!!" agreed a second commenter.

In another clip posted to Instagram, Akins, Kotb, and Rhett walked together towards the stage—or, in the case of Kotb and Rhett, danced towards the stage (as Akins laughed, holding a coffee in one hand).
Kotb connected with Rhett in 2022 on an episode of her Making Space podcast, where they talked about something the host and the country singer have in common: They both welcomed children through adoption. Rhett and Akins adopted the oldest of their four daughters, Willa Gray, 8, from Uganda; Kotb adopted her two daughters, Hope Catherine, 4, and Haley Joy, 7, at birth.
"You want to preserve where they're from," Kotb said on the podcast. "So they remember, because I feel like you don't know your identity, how are you going to live your life? You've got to figure out a way to navigate."
Rhett agreed that he sometimes struggles with finding the right answers to Willa Gray's "really intense questions."
Rhett and Akins are also parents to Ada James, 6, Lennon Love, 4, and Lillie Carolina, 2.
