The Event returns to Hard Rock on July 13
The 12th edition of the annual fundraising concert series called The Event is set to return to Hard Rock Live in Wheatland on July 13.
Organizer and former Sierra Central Credit Union CEO John Cassidy said country music star and Yuba City native Tyler Rich is once again headlining the concert with Dawson Anderson, previously a member of the band Temecula Road, performing as the opening act.
While Rich is expected to play some new songs along with his usual hits, Anderson is anticipated to play one of his new solo songs that was recently released.
“His band was amazing last year,” Cassidy said of Anderson’s performance during The Event in 2023.
Rich, though, will once again be the highlight of the show, Cassidy said.
“Tyler feels a commitment to the community. He feels passionate about animal causes,” Cassidy said. “He loves coming back home. He’s looking forward to this one because he’s got a lot of new songs and of course his classic hits. Northern California loves Tyler Rich and Tyler Rich loves Northern California. He loves playing Hard Rock.”
That connection to animal causes is what spurred Cassidy to include the K-9 association in Yuba and Sutter counties in proceeds from the event. Mainly a fundraising effort, the Event also will benefit the Trauma Intervention Program, known to most as TIP.
According to its website, “TIP provides immediate emotional and practical support to survivors of tragedy. Local residents are trained to be TIP Responders and are available on a 24/7/365 day basis to assist law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, deputy coroners and hospital personnel.”
Cassidy said the Enterprise Community Fund also will get a portion of the proceeds from this year’s concert.
“This year we’re adding Enterprise because they do so much and want to do more. The goal is to take it to another level,” Cassidy said.
Since starting The Event, Cassidy said about $300,000 has been handed out to organizations in the Yuba-Sutter community.
“We started years ago because we felt every year there were charities overlooked by the community,” Cassidy said. “We wanted to raise funds for great programs that don’t always have adequate funding.”
The show on July 13 at Hard Rock Live in Wheatland is slated to start at 7 p.m. Cassidy said tickets are still available to those wanting to attend. For more information or to get tickets, visit casino.hardrock.com/sacramento.
“We’re excited. We have great sponsors once again, local businesses that participate,” Cassidy said. “We want to see Yuba-Sutter come out in the middle of July, indoors and rock out. Everybody wins. It’s a great event.”
