Evangeline Lilly won't self-isolate, suggests coronavirus is a hoax: 'There's something every election year'
Evangeline Lilly, who is living with her immunocompromised father in Hawaii, won't stay home amid the coronavirus pandemic. She also dismissed the coronavirus as a "respiratory flu." The Lost star posted on Instagram this week that it's business as usual in her house as she dropped her kids off at gymnastics camp.
"They all washed their hands before going in," she wrote. "They are playing and laughing."
Lilly was slammed in the comments section as irresponsible. One woman pleaded with the actress to stay home and "flatten the curve and save lives."
"This is exactly the question I think we're all rightfully asking ourselves and each reacting in different ways to the conclusions we draw," Lilly replied. She added that if they "could sit face-to-face" they would likely find they have similar views.
"I bet we would completely agree on what we want and what we are trying to avoid, and then would challenge each other thoughtfully about how to achieve that," Lily wrote. "I'm having those conversations daily with people in my inner circle and am always considering and reconsidering my position. Where we are right now feels a lot too close to Marshall Law [sic] for my comfort already, all in the name of a respiratory flu. It's unnerving."
Lilly continued, "I appreciate your engagement and the meaningful discourse. Let's be vigilant right now. And kind. Watchful and gracious — keeping a close eye on our leaders, making sure they don't abuse this moment to steal away more freedoms and grab more power, but gracious with each other as we try to navigate the unknown dangers of a modern, global world and power structure. Stay in touch. We're in this together. Thank you for listening. I have heard you."
"No corona house arrest?" another person asked.
"Not for this family," Lilly responded.
The 40-year-old actress also revealed she's immunocompromised and is living with her father who is battling cancer.
"I am living with my father at the moment, who has stage four leukemia. I am also immune compromised at the moment," she wrote. "I have two young kids. Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives. We all make our choices. With love and respect."
The Ant-Man star responded to a fan who wished "things were normal here in New Mexico" as the state is "pretty much on lock down."
"I think we all need to slow down, take a breath and look at the facts we are being presented with," Lilly replied. "They do not add up to the all-out, global lockdown, control, pandemoniac and insanity we are experiencing. I hope that people will find their peace and sanity where you are soon. Sending you loving prayers."
In another comment, Lilly inferred the coronavirus is a hoax.
"I think something is going on behind the senses but that's just me, every few years some disease come out quick then disappears as quick as it came," one man wrote.
"There's 'something' every election year," the actress replied.
