At long last, House of the Dragon is back.
This season picks up right where season one left off: Who has the right to the Iron Throne? Is it Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) or Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney)?
The Targaryen civil war over the succession will remain at the heart of season two, and as ever, the topic remains a "potent" source of drama. "The thing about the drama—whether it's a real life drama, for example the British royal family, or the imaginary drama of House of the Dragon or Succession, or plays like King Lear—these great stories center fundamentally around the family. That nuclear family, those relationships, are so potent," star Eve Best told Town & Country. "We all relate to them. Everybody relates, in some way, to the family dynamic—to what it means to be a child, what it means to be a parent, what it means to feel loved or passed over, to fight for your own space and your own sense of values. It's great drama and it's gripping to watch. But more than that, there is something inside it that we all relate to: the family dynamic. Who's gonna push you away? Who's gonna win? Who's gonna fall?"
