It's 'The End of the F***ing World' (and Netflix feels fine)
Looking for a way to get 2018 off to a great f***ing start? Here’s a pro tip: Binge Netflix’s latest original series, The End of the F***ing World, when it premieres on the streaming service Jan. 5. Adapted from the graphic novel of the same graphic name, the U.K.-produced series bowed to strong word of mouth in its native land last fall. Yahoo Entertainment has a first look at the show’s trailer, featuring Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden as James and Alyssa, a pair of road-tripping teens eager to outrun their rapidly approaching maturity.
Bonnie and Clyde these two kids ain’t. Having decided that he’s “pretty much a psychopath,” James has subjected himself to a self-imposed isolation that ends when he befriends the equally cynical Alyssa. Bonding immediately over their shared nihilism, the two alternate light criminal activities like stealing cars with normal such teenage stuff as awkward dates at the local diner. “Being with Alyssa had started to make me feel things,” James muses. “I didn’t like it at all.” Based on this trailer, The End of the F***ing World looks like the beginnings of a beautiful relationship.
The End of the F***ing World premieres Friday, Jan. 5, on Netflix.
