Emmys 2024 Poll: Who Should Win for Supporting Actress in a Comedy?
We have some serious Hollywood legends in the running for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at this year’s Emmys — but don’t count out the newcomers just yet.
With last year’s winner, The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, moving up to lead actress this year, we’ll see a new champ in this category, and we have to start with a pair of acting icons. Meryl Streep is nominated for playing late-bloomer actress Loretta Durkin on Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, and she already has three Emmys on her mantel to go along with her three Oscars. Plus, Carol Burnett — who has seven Emmy wins to her credit, along with a Hall of Fame honor in 1985 — is in the mix for playing comatose socialite Norma Dellacorte on Apple TV+’s Palm Royale.

But there are plenty of other strong contenders here, including Sheryl Lee Ralph (a young whippersnapper, by comparison!), who earned her third straight nod for playing Abbott Elementary teacher Barbara, with a win in 2022. Her Abbott co-star Janelle James is also up for the third straight year as free-wheeling principal Ava Coleman, and Hacks star Hannah Einbinder nabbed her third nomination as well as caustic comic Ava Daniels. (The Battle of the Avas!) Rounding out the field is The Bear’s Liza Colón-Zayas, celebrating her first career Emmy nomination for playing line cook Tina.
So who would you hand the Emmy to, if you were filling out a ballot? Vote for your favorite in the poll below, and then hit the comments to defend your pick.
