‘Emily in Paris’ Team on Going to Italy in Season 4: “It Was Like Starting Something Fresh”
Emily in Paris is going beyond the City of Light in season four, as the titular American heads to Rome for part of the season.
Season four — split into two segments, with part one now streaming and part two coming Sept. 12 — will continue Emily’s (played by Lily Collins) love triangle with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and in the later episodes, see her heading out on an Italian adventure.

“Being in Rome was so amazing, it was the most special way for us to end this season with the crew because it felt like a holiday. The culture there is just so warm and welcoming, the streets are paved with so much history, and the food is so wonderful,” Collins told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s L.A. premiere on Wednesday. “It was so great to go from Paris to Rome because you’re still in Europe and you’re still feeling that romance and passion of Europe, but you’re getting to experience a different part of history which was really fun.”
Creator Darren Star added that after filming the first part of the season during a cold winter in Paris, “It’s like the sun came out fresh in Rome when we got there. It was just a whole different experience, it was like starting something fresh. It kind of reinvigorated all of us.” Park, who stars as Emily’s best friend Mindy and is on a journey to Eurovision, also confirmed, “I ate a lot of pasta.”
As for how long the show will follow Emily’s antics in Paris, executive producer Andrew Fleming teased, “I would like 87 seasons, frankly, but it’s up to Netflix.”
Emily in Paris part one is now streaming.
