‘Emilia Pérez’ Sets Golden Globes Record With 10 Nominations
Emilia Pérez had a record-breaking morning, with the Netflix film landing ten Golden Globe nominations, making it the most nominated comedy or musical film in the awards show’s history. It topped last year’s Barbie and 1972’s Cabaret, which each landed nine nominations. (The all-time record holder is 1975’s Nashville, which was a player in the drama category).
Emilia Pérez was a crowd pleaser out of Cannes, with Netflix swooping up the feature soon after its debut at the May festival. It centers on cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón) who hires attorney Rita (Zoe Salda?a) in a plan to fake her death so that she can transition into a woman and live as her true self.
