Ellen DeGeneres is 'angry' at Trump's reaction to Christine Blasey Ford: 'You don't mock somebody'
The inquiry into Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations of sexual abuse against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has prompted countless women — including celebrities such as Padma Lakshmi, Connie Chung, and Teri Hatcher — to speak publicly about their own experiences.
Now, on the one-year anniversary of the New York Times’ bombshell report on Harvey Weinstein, Ellen DeGeneres is sharing her own story and calling out people who cast doubt on those who come forward. Just days after referencing an incident that happened when she was 15, during an interview with Busy Phillips on her own show, the talk show host sat down with Today’s Savannah Guthrie for a further discussion.
“As a victim of sexual abuse, I am furious at people who don’t believe it and say, ‘How do you not remember exactly what day it was?'” the 60-year-old told Guthrie in a pre-taped interview which aired in full on Friday. You don’t remember those things. What you remember is what happened to you and where you were and how you feel… How dare you not believe us?”

Though DeGeneres declined to go into the details about being “violated” as a teenager, she did make it clear that President Trump’s reaction to Ford during a Tuesday rally — which has already been condemned by many — was unacceptable.
“I see Trump and he’s now mocking Dr. Ford,” she noted. “I don’t like to talk about him, and this is not political, it really isn’t. It’s got nothing to do with being Republican or Democrat or anything. It’s about respect and someone who is the leader of our country who is mocking someone who was abused. You don’t do that. You don’t mock somebody. I’m angry, I’m sorry.”

DeGeneres also said that she hoped more women would be encouraged to speak up and share their stories, however painful.
